What is it? In this workshop, you will learn the craft of traditional Chinese block printing and calligraphy to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

What will you make? You will make at least 4 different prints and some calligraphy work, which you can take back home with you to decorate your home for the CNY special occasion.

Why do this workshop? Not only will you relax, create and keep the beautiful pieces you have made but you will also learn about Chinese culture.

How long is it? 90 minutes.

How is it hosted? This workshop will be hosted either at our Camden Studio, in your office or a venue of your choice.

This workshop highlights the vanishing traditional handcrafts of China’s minority ethnicities. Intercultural sharing is constant and often unconscious throughout our daily lives, and handcrafts are the physical embodiment of culture and cultural sharing. It is the perfect way to celebrate Chinese culture and learn something new with your team from one of our experts.

Meet Yiran.

Yiran is Mandarin Chinese and English bilingual with strong interests in crafts, textiles and their role in cultural communication and learning. She has built a broad experience of costume making, design and supervision in performance. She is passionate about exploring communication between the East and the West, and her practice has focused on how to combine embroidery and traditional elements from Chinese costumes with Western techniques to explore intercultural connections. As a member of southern China’s Bai minority ethnicity, she is interested in the conservation of ethnic minority craft techniques.
